About Sarah

Through her work advocating for youth, Sarah found herself among other people in Vancouver who were deeply passionate about issues affecting the community.

She has been employed as a Youth Outreach Worker with SPEC (Society for Promoting Environmental Conservation), and in Ecuador with the Environmental Youth Alliance. She was also a founding partner of the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition and helped secure the declaration of Skateboard Week, the relaxing of the ban on skateboarding on city streets, and the development of five new skateparks.

For the Past 6 years Sarah has worked for the Portland Hotel Society where she has managed a homeless shelter where she started a homeless soccer team called Portland FC, and currently works as a Mental Health Worker at Tellier Towers low income seniors housing. Sarah developed a seniors cell phone program at Tellier Towers that helps connect seniors to 911 who cannot otherwise afford a phone.

Sarah has been a contributor to Momentum magazine and has written for many publications, including Snowboard Canada, Skateboard Canada, EXPN, and Terminal City. She was also a contributor to beyondrobson.com, a popular Vancouver blog.

Sarah Blyth is the founder and executive director of the Overdose Prevention Society in Vancouver, BC. She has championed for solutions to the opioid crisis and has continued to be a strong leader in the community on this issue.

As the mother of a young son, Sarah makes good use of Vancouver's parks and community gardens.

At Park Board Sarah has lead many new projects such as turning under used fieldhouses in to artist studios, Vancouver’s first BMX track, a permanent street soccer pitch at Hastings Park. Sarah has also shown openness to creative public ideas like the Worlds first bike polo pitch, Parkour, a kite surf launch area and Dude Chilling Park.
